Cookie Policy
What stays in your browser.
A cookie policy you understand on the first read: the site stores two things — your language choice and, if you fill in the form, a temporary draft. Nothing else. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, with a name, a value and a duration. The cookie stays on your device, not on the server, and is sent back to the site on later visits — for example, so the site remembers that you chose Portuguese.
2. Equivalent technologies
- Session storage (sessionStorage): stores data only while the tab is open and disappears when you close it; this is what the form draft uses.
- Local storage (localStorage): would store data between visits; the site does not use it.
- Cache files and service workers: not used to identify visitors; the site has no service worker.
3. First and third parties; session and persistent
A cookie is first-party when set by the site you are visiting — the case of Arquely's only cookie. It is third-party when set by an embedded service (a video or a social button, for example) — the site embeds no such service.
A session cookie ends when you close the browser; a persistent cookie has a defined duration. Arquely's language cookie is persistent, lasting one year, so you are not asked the same question every visit.
4. Legal framework and why there is no banner
The applicable rule is Law No. 41/2004, amended by Law No. 46/2012, which requires consent to store information on your device unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you requested. The GDPR applies when what is stored can identify people.
The language cookie and the form draft fall under the strictly necessary exception: the first executes your language choice; the second avoids losing text you are still writing. Since we store nothing beyond that, a consent banner would have nothing to ask — and a decorative banner would be worse than none.
If the site ever wants traffic analytics or any non-essential technology, it will first ask for your consent, with a clear control, and this policy will be updated before that happens.
5. What this site stores
| Name | Type | What it is for | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| arquely-lang | First-party cookie, set by the site | Stores your chosen language (PT or EN) so the site opens in the right language on future visits. | One year |
| arquely:interest-draft:v1 | Browser session storage (not a cookie; stays on your device) | Stores the draft of the interest form — email and comment — while this tab is open, so you do not lose what you wrote if the page reloads. | Until the tab is closed |
6. Third-party cookies
None. The site embeds no videos, maps, social networks, remote fonts with identifiers or third-party content that could set cookies. Fonts are served by the site itself.
7. Analytics, advertising and tracking
The site uses no analytics tools (Google Analytics or similar), runs no advertising, builds no behaviour profiles and does not follow visitors between sites. There are no conversion pixels and no A/B tests with personal identifiers.
This limits what we know about how the site is used — and it is a deliberate choice: we collect the minimum, and protect the little that stays.
8. Browser privacy signals
When your browser sends automatic signals such as Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, there is nothing to switch off on our side: no tracking exists. If tracking ever comes to exist, those signals will be honoured by default.
9. What reaches the server
To deliver pages and protect the form, the servers technically process the request: the page requested, the time and date, and a hash of the IP address kept in memory only, for seconds, to rate-limit repeated submissions. This processing leaves no persistent records with personal data and is described in the Privacy Policy.
10. How to manage and delete in your browser
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings > Privacy (or Preferences > Privacy on macOS) > Manage Website Data.
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data.
You can view, block and delete cookies and storage in your browser settings. Exact paths change with each version; as a rule:
11. What changes if you delete everything
If you delete the language cookie, the site falls back to your browser's language header and asks again on your first manual switch. If you close the tab, the form draft disappears — the email is only sent when you press submit, and only reaches Arquely at that moment.
12. What about the products?
This policy covers the institutional site. The Business Automation and Document Intelligence tools will have their own technical inventory, published and explained in each project's proposal and contract before being used with Client data.
13. Changes to this policy
Any change to what the site stores is reflected here first, with the date at the top updated. Changes requiring consent only take effect after consent is clearly requested.
14. Contact
